My path has led me here to this place….Skagit Marketing. The path began on the mighty Mississippi River. I grew up in, on and around the river….the natural environment was imprinted on my brain. At a very young age of 5, I started promoting and marketing outdoor plays alongside the river to unsuspecting neighbors. From there it led to a Marketing Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. I spent 15 years in Sales, Marketing, Technology, & Acquisitions Editorial work in the publishing industry from Washington DC to California to the Pacific Northwest.
Motherhood and the birth of my third child caused me to to re-evaluate my priorities in life. Being a member for 10 years and Past President of Soroptimist International of La Conner showed me how important community was to my spirit, and the idea of a business in La Conner where I could work, live, and volunteer was born. Childhood Bliss (a children’s boutique) storefront was created and had an extraordinary 5 year life span which included an online boutique when SEO was in its infancy.
During those five years I was on the Executive Team of the La Conner Chamber of Commerce. I re-designed LaConnerChamber.com, implemented a content-management system, and volunteered my marketing services by creating a marketing strategy and advertising campaigns & schedules. I also started a Marketing Seminar series for the La Conner Chamber Business Community.
In 2009 I worked like crazy to create the new VisitSkagitValley.com as a volunteer project. I met and collaborated with amazing Skagitonians to bring the content together. The volunteer project turned into my second destination marketing organization (DMO) client and will always be my favorite hometown DMO project!
I love Marketing….I love Small Business & Non-Profits….and I love the Skagit Valley. One of my favorite children’s books is A Fairy Went A-Marketing. This is the story of a sweet graceful fairy who enjoys her purchases only for a short time, then releases them for their own good or the good of others. The illustrations in this book are extraordinary for their nearly-glowing, rich colors, but also a special spirit which shines through as being the work of someone who has observed nature and has quite a love of it. Couple this quality with the story about a fairy who treats her animal friends and nature with the utmost care and respect and you have a Skagit Marketing metaphor. Like the Fairy Went A-Marketing, I also have a strong respect for other living things and nature. 10% of Skagit Marketing profits go back to Skagit Valley conservation organizations.
My mission is to Catch & Release the Magic of your organization while preserving and respecting this incredible Natural Treasure & Legacy…the Magic Skagit Valley in the great Pacific Northwest (PNW)!
